Precious Time

Those of you that know our family well, know that this has been one of the most difficult times of our life. The transition from me working to me being at home, I wish I could say has been a smooth one, but unfortunately, it seems to have been a time of change and stress for everyone. We are hoping for an end to the turmoil by the first of next year, but until then, we are trying daily to keep things as normal as possible and focus on the fun times and blessings in our life.

We had been planning our Disney Trip (Thanks mom and dad) for well over a year, and even through the worst crisis yet, we decided, we needed to go. We needed time as a family to regain strength, have fun and take some precious family time just for us!

We loaded up, nana and papaw took Shelby, Troy and I took Cole and 15+ hrs later we landed at Shades of Green on Disney Resort! It was wonderful and I know these are memories of our family being together that all of us will carry forever.

After Disney, Nana and Papaw took both kiddos back with them, while Troy and I stayed for his conference and had some good husband/wife time for our 16th Anniversary. Thanks again Nana and Papaw for this wonderful gift of time, love and support. I couldn't ask for better and more supportive and loving parents.

All in all, it's good to be home! After Nana and Papaw drove off with our kiddos, Troy and I looked at each other with tears in our eyes and eventually left a day early to get back home to our precious loves.

A Prayer for Children

A Prayer For Children

We pray for the children who sneak popsicles before supper,who erase holes in math workbooks,who can never find their shoes.
And we pray for those who stare at photographers from behind barbed wire,who can't bound down the street in a new pair of sneakers,who never "counted potatoes,"who are born in places where we wouldn't be caught dead,who never go to the circus,who live in an X-rated world.
We pray for the children who bring us sticky kisses and fistfuls of dandelions,who hug us in a hurry and forget their lunch money.
And we pray for those who never get dessert,who have no safe blanket to drag behind them,who watch their parents watch them die,who can't find bread to steal,who don't have rooms to clean up,whose pictures aren't on anybody's dresser,whose monsters are real.
We Pray for the Children who spend their allowance before Tuesday,who throw tantrums in the grocery storeand pick at their food,who like ghost stories,who shove dirty clothes under the bed,who never rinse out the tub,who get visits from the tooth fairy,who don't like to be kissed in front of the carpool,who squirm in church and scream in the phone,whose tears we sometimes laugh at and whose smiles can make us cry.
And we pray for those whose nightmares come in the daytime,who will eat anything who have never seen dentist,who aren't spoiled by anybody,who go to bed hungry and cry themselves to sleep,who live and move, but have no being
We pray for the children who want to be carried and for those who must,who we never give up on and for those who don't get a second chance.We pray for those we smother and for those who will grab the hand of anybody kind enough to offer it.

I will set a good example for my child. I will show my children I love them every day through words and physical affection. I will listen to my children and let them know I value what they say. I will praise my child's accomplishments and efforts towards those accomplishments.I will have realistic expectations for my children.
